Goodness Gracious
(DJ Seto – Four Twenty One)
Here’s the question of the day…
Can a person be born evil?
The religious might say, because we are all God’s children – we are all born good. It is our life experiences that may jade us and cause malevolent behaviour. However, deep down, we are all still good at heart.
The optimistic atheist/agnostic might say we’re born neutral and we’re taught by our immediate family, friends and experiences about morals and values. This is what dictates our behaviour and intent.
The Star Wars fanatics might say we’re born one or the other – equal in number to balance out the universe.
There will likely be no agreement from one person to the next and there’s obviously no clear answer; it is and will always be a philosophical/theological debate.
What I do know is that I have yet to meet a person in my lifetime that was inherently evil.

i think people can be born evil. i'm convinced our personalities are shaped partly by our environments and partly by genetics. Some just come out kickin and screaming. Those who do come out a little tempermental have a hard time inviting sympathy from parents, who in turn lose their patience, which then makes a mess of the child further.. voila evil person.
So have you ever met someone who was born evil? If you did...how could you tell?
Interesting question. Does it matter whether some are born evil or just that they are? One could argue that with the former circumstance, there is no control over the predisposition and therefore it cannot be helped. However, by the same token, a born evil person can change into good as much as a born-good person can turn evil. What is considered evil? Something like predation? Some species eat their newborns.
I think it does matters if you're born evil vs born good and turning evil. If you're born evil you will always have that inclination for evil. What's that saying -- "Once evil, always evil?"
I'd probably have to say that eating your newborns would be evil (at least for humans). I'm sure there are other things that would constitute evil but offhand I can't think of any. Probably because I'm too pure of heart ;)
